Why everyone is going loony about the moon tonight

Random Person (RP): "Do you believe in the moon?"

Me: "Yes" trying not to look at random person strangely

RP: "Don't you think that all the 'stuff' about the moon is weird?"

Me: "I don't know enough about how powerful the moon is, yet" thinking to myself I really should have listened more that Thursday in 4th form Science, (you were right Miss McAllister, one day I would care). "Can't be that weird, Channel 9 ran a story on it as tonight's partial eclipse is the longest since the 15th century"

Lunar eclipse

Lunar eclipse is when the earth, sun and the moon are all aligned

1st lunar eclipse of 2021 was May 26th, some were calling it a Blood Moon

2nd lunar eclipse of 2021 is November 19th, tonight!

The moon, the tide and us

We are all quite comfortable accepting that the moon affects the tide (all aquatic lovers know this to be true and will have their own stories around this) but basically our highest tides and our lowest tides are affected by the full moon and aquatic life is too. So, if we are approximately 60% water, should us humans also pay more attention to the moon?

The moon, animals and us

I will observe closely our farm animals and our domestic animals to see if/how their behaviour changes today and tonight around the lunar eclipse, and I'll report back with my best pic. We are very lucky in the country as our natural light is not competing as much with all the other artificial light

Stay curious, look up!
